Waymark Academy hybrid program

School at home and at school

Hybrid elementary combines the benefits of both traditional classroom learning and homeschool into one harmonious model. This unique approach allows families to maintain a strong academic foundation with qualified teachers while still enjoying more time together and participating in learning at home. The goal is to nurture not only knowledge and skill, but also a Christ-centered life and a rhythm of education that supports family discipleship, character formation, and connection to God’s creation.

At Waymark Academy, hybrid students are fully integrated and welcomed into our Christian school community. They attend class with the students who are enrolled five days per week and participate in our regular schedule. The hybrid model simply adjusts where learning takes place, not the academic quality, spiritual values, or classroom belonging.

Parents and teachers work together as partners in Christian education, sharing the responsibility for instruction and reinforcing biblical values throughout the week. Learning at home becomes an extension of what we are teaching at school—allowing parents to disciple their children, practice real-life skills, and enjoy the gift of extra family time and faith-based conversations.

Waymark Academy provides all lesson plans, pacing, assessments, materials, and curriculum, ensuring that the student can work naturally in both locations without gaps or confusion. Because our teachers plan with hybrid families in mind, students can move seamlessly between school days and home days, receiving consistent instruction, support, and expectations.

Hybrid students will attend school either:

  • Tuesday and Thursday in person, with Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at home

or

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in person, with Tuesday and Thursday at home

Families can choose the schedule that works best for them, and students remain in the same classroom community throughout the year.

Our model encourages academic excellence, strong family culture, outdoor learning, and the development of a personal relationship with Jesus. As students explore both home and school environments, they learn that faith is not confined to a building—it is a way of life, integrated into reading, outdoor exploration, chores, discovery, prayer, and daily moments with the Lord.

Please see our daily rhythm under the K-12th tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at information@waymarkacademy.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

NC Opportunity Scholarship helps children K-12th pay for private school. Last year all the children that applied were accepted and funded. The amount varies - find more information online!

We also take special forces and Folds of Honor and glady accept others!

26-27 TBD (ranges from 8:30AM-2:00PM)

We follow our private school calendar.

Our hybrid students have the option to come to school 2 days, Tuesday and Thursday and school at home 3, or attend 3 days Monday, Wednesday and Friday and school at home 2 days.

Relax uniforms are required each day and items can be found on Lands End. In addition, we allow like items as long as they are not any different than the items described in our uniform policy. Please reach out to the school for more information.

Bogs rain boots are required and will stay at school.

All rain-hiking gear will be rented from the school and are kept at school. Layers to keep warm must come from home each day.

Yes, younger children cannot be out in extreme heat or cold, however older children, with the proper gear, usually can tolerate the temperatures better. We go out in rain or snow too!

Lunch and snacks are provided each day by the parents. In addition, students need to bring 2 refillable water bottles each day.

TBD - We do plan to have before and after school care for the 2026-27 school year, times TBD.

All children must be fever, vomit, diarrhea free for at least 48 hours for this program and fully ready to learn and play. In addition, all other symptoms must be gone except for an occasional cough or nose wipe. When the children are outside symptoms usually flare up and it can be very uncomfortable for the children.

In the younger years, we use positive methods of discipline, and it is usually individualized the child as we get to know them and what works best. Often this includes redirection, possibly sitting out, and if a child is not listening multiple times (in the forest this can be very dangerous) or hurting a friend or teacher, the child would need to go home for the day. For the older children we have a demerit system.
