What we believe

We believe the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21) We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30) We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. (Ps 139.) We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor 6:9-10.) 

At Waymark Academy, we strive to nurture the whole child - physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and most importantly, spiritually - while cultivating a lifelong love of learning. By blending the educational frameworks of Montessori, Reggio, Forest School, Charlotte Mason, and Waldorf, we provide a unique learning experience that meets and often exceeds educational standards.

We emphasize independence and respect for each child’s natural development while teaching from a biblical worldview using developmentally appropriate methods. Our approach is supported by early childhood and K-12 education experts, therapists, pastors, pediatricians, and psychiatrists worldwide - leaders who, like us, advocate for realistic and balanced expectations during childhood to protect the mental health of our children. We meet each child where they are, trusting in the process that mastery comes in time through guidance, encouragement, and partnership between teachers and parents.

We believe children are not meant to sit at desks all day listening to lectures. Instead, today’s classrooms should be exploratory, interactive, challenging, and project-based - environments where students are actively engaged in their learning journey. Children thrive when they explore topics that interest them and receive personalized support to progress at their own pace.

Our students are encouraged to take risks, try new things, and see mistakes as opportunities to grow. Learning through failure builds resilience, creativity, and a deeper understanding of God’s world. Our role as educators is not to ensure immediate success but to create a safe, loving environment where children can experiment, persevere, and learn from every experience. As students develop emotional awareness, social skills, and cooperation, they gain the confidence to embrace challenges and expand both personal and academic boundaries.

At Waymark, our mission is for every child to discover the unique path God has prepared for them. We teach students to view life through a biblical lens, discerning truth from deception and faith from ritual. Our staff partners closely with parents in their God-given role to instruct and guide their children. Together, we share the sacred responsibility of helping each child uncover and fulfill God’s purpose for their lives - learning to love God through His Word and to find joy in learning itself.

 At Forest School, we embrace the unique benefits of using nature as the primary context for learning. Our curriculum is rooted in nature itself, as children explore the world around them through an emergent, child-led, and inquiry-based approach. Students observe, ask questions, and engage in both short- and long-term investigations that naturally integrate multiple subjects - including Bible, math, SS, science, and literacy - through whole-group, small-group, and individual experiences. Learning unfolds through a balance of teacher-facilitated lessons, child-initiated interests, and spontaneous discoveries, both in play areas and across the grounds. Through nature-based education, we nurture curiosity, community, and imagination - cultivating a sense of stewardship and empowering learners to develop a lifelong connection to the world God created.
